This is a fun topic. I love to shop and collect air pumps and other inflation devices. Vintage like new. If you got inspired by saturday cartoons like I did, you have to love pumps. I know there is a lot of people who enjoy to blow air into inflatables to make them inflate. But I personaly find that a bit exhausting. So I love to use pumps. This section is for getting some information about this lovely device.
Pumps can become in many styles, shapes, and prices. You can buy foot pumps, hand pumps, batteries and electric oparated pumps, air compressors and enven vaccum cleaners. I will try to explain the pumps and thier ups and downs. But first, there is 2 specific kind of pump actions. You can by single action hand pump ( so it will blow air only when you push down ) and double action hand pump ( so you push down it blows air and when you pull up it blows air. So you always have air inflating you. Go for that kind ). So let's start!
Balloon pumps
Fun, compact, cheap, easy to find, balloon pumps are most of the time double action. Suprising enough, they are pretty powerfull. Of course you will need more pump shots to inflate to your maximum but they are fun to oparate. Perfect pump for outdoors body inflation because they are easy to hide. Here's a few examples:
Small to medium size double action hand pumps:
This is my favorite pump. Hand held double action pump. Quick and a good flow and amout of air can be blown. Mostly under $10.00, can come in a few sizes. Easy to find and strong. Can be brought in a backpack. Mostly double action.
Large size hand pumps:
This is a large size hand pump. Double action, a lot of air flow. A bit harder to handle alone. Its the perfect pump if someone is inflating you. Very cartoonish look and a lot of fun to use. About $ 20.00 or less. Made strong. If somebody is pumping you fast, you will feel all the pressure and the fun of you expanding at each pump shots.
Foot pumps:
Fun but can be hard to use if you are alone. Because bigger you get, harder to move it will be. That is the perfect pump if someone in pumping you and that person will be able to squeeze you as you are getting biger. Very cheap.
Electric and batteries pumps:
Comes in many shapes, power and prices. Good if you want to get huge of to the maximum size you can get without any efforts. Plugg yourself and turn it on and enjoy. But carefull, too much air you could pop. Not cheap but a lot of fun.
Vaccum cleaners & shop-vaccs
Sadly noisy but extremly powerfull. A lot but I mean a lot of air flow. You will inflated very fast. Can be not cheap but its good for life. But make sure there is an exauhst because that is where you will connect the machine hose. Make sure that you will keep it close to you and not out of reach while blowing up. You might go pop!
This vintage vaccum cleaner is the same I used when I was a kid/teen to inflate when I was home alone. A lot of memories;)
Air compressors or tool air compressors:
Big and not cheap at all. Fun to use but you have to prepare it before you inflate. Very noisy at first but after just a lovely sound. They come in many sizes and shapes and you might need a garage. Very powerfull and you can get to your full size extremly fast.
Gas station's inflation station:
The ultimate inflation divice. But you might get caught while inflating or fully inflated. Once huge, you can't hide. Extremly exciting but risky to use. Risky cause you have to find a nice quite gas station and inflate outdoor. You will blowing up very fast with a lot of pressure. You will fee your body expand to the limit.
Please note that if you are using some kind of pump you will need a few extra thing like hoses and fittings to connect your inflatable under your clothes to the pump.
